Wire & Check Policies
Always Verbally Verify All Wiring Instructions With Our Office
Before Initiating A Wire! (410) 719-0200
One of our most important roles as a title company is to protect our clients’ interests, during what is typically one of the largest and most important financial transactions of their lives – purchasing their home. While our industry has taken great measures to insure the safety and security of real estate transactions across the board, the adoption of technology in our industry has opened us all up to cybercrime and wire fraud, both of which are rising rapidly. Hardly a day goes by without news of a new cyber attack plaguing our industry. Protecting you and your investment remains our key concern. This is why we have implemented the following Wire Policy:
WIRING BUYER FUNDS
- Please contact your bank at least 7 days prior to closing to determine if you will need to schedule a wire appointment. Some banks do not allow walk-ins for wires.
- $7,500+ = Bank Wire ONLY (Must be sent before closing. Bank/book transfers will not be accepted)
- Under $7,500 = Bank Cashier’s Check is acceptable (payable to Crown Title Corporation)
- Under $2,000 = Personal Check is acceptable
WIRING SELLER PROCEEDS
- We require a voided check AND deposit slip for the account that will receive the wire.
- All names that appear on title/deed must be printed on the check AND the deposit slip.
- A $50 wire fee will be deducted from the cash out
- If you are having your seller proceeds wired to an investment account, like Morgan Stanley or a small credit union, you will need to request wire instructions from your bank. You may bring these wire instructions to closing and/or have the bank e-mail them to you directly via secure e-mail.
REALTOR COMMISSION CHECKS
- Please submit your company’s disbursement authorization prior to closing or bring a copy of it to closing.
- Your commission check and a copy of the signed ALTA/CD for your transaction will be overnighted via FedEx.
- If your brokerage requires a copy of the commission check for compliance, please communicate that to post closing.
